SUMMARY:Copyright in the Digital Age for Librarians - PLAN
DESCRIPTION:Some of the greatest challenges for librarians in the current digital world involve copyright law. What is protected by copyright in the Internet environment? Who owns what? How does fair use apply in this environment? How do I help my users navigate such a complex area? This full-day, interactive workshop will provide you with a strong grounding in current copyright law and the tools you need to take back with you to recognize copyright issues when they arise and to address them with confidence. The workshop will address the fundamentals of copyright, fair use in both traditional and digital environments, and the application of copyright to common situations such as digitizing works, using works available on the Internet, and dealing with orphan works. The workshop will be interactive with ample time for questions and answers throughout. Presenter: Gretchen McCord, Librarian and Copyright Attorney Register at PLAN's website.
