SUMMARY:Disaster Preparedness
DESCRIPTION: Cultural heritage institutions are vulnerable to damage through natural and human-created disasters. Collections can be damaged by fire, smoke, flooding, burst or leaking pipes, and a host of other disasters, where management and staff need tools to handle both minor incidents and large-scale emergencies. This requires that institutions have knowledgeable staff and written plans for dealing with emergency situations, so that fewer disasters occur and damaged materials can be salvaged successfully. Staff must also be trained in proper recovery techniques and procedures. By the end of this class, students will be able to: Identify key steps in the disaster planning process. Explain plan components and varying roles of staff and responders. Recall specific salvage techniques for library and archive media When registered, attendees will receive email containing login information to webinar within two weeks before event. Please register at the SWFLN CE calendar below.
