Guerilla Branding: Making Your Library Indispensable is an interactive workshop that guides attendees through a day of learning on how small organizations – from startup companies to nonprofits, build ties to a community through disciplined but highlycreative strategies and tactics.
As a participant, you will receive a guerilla outreach guide and work both individually and in groups to begin brainstorming issues, strategies, and tactics. Throughout the day, NYU professor and Forbes contributor David Vinjamuri will provide insights, best practices, and tools to help you think clearly about your library’s current situation and begin to identify
Educational Objective – Help library directors, marketers, communications directors and board members understand how to engage with their communities in a high-impact manner with limited budgets and tight resources. This workshop will focus on substituting a crisp strategy and vivid imagination for a large budget.

David Vinjamuri is President of ThirdWay Brand Trainers, whose clients over the last 13 years include American Express, Starwood Hotels, The Corporate Executive Board, The U.S. Army, Navy and Commerce Department. David also teaches branding and social media to Master’s degree candidates at NYU where he is adjunct Assistant Professor of Marketing. David writes the Brand Truth column online for Forbes, which has been read by over 1 million people. He also writes the Brand Insider column for Library Journal. He is the author of Accidental Branding: How Ordinary People Build Extraordinary Brands (Wiley, 2008) and two novels.
David has been quoted as an expert on brands in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, BusinessWeek, US News & World Report, BusinessWeek and Investor’s Business Daily. David has contributed to BrandWeek, Advertising Age and Publisher’s Weekly. He has appeared as a brand expert on PBS Marketplace, BBC World, Fox Business News, Bloomberg TV and MSNBC.
David speaks widely on branding and social media topics. He has been the featured guest lecturer on the Queen Mary 2 and has addressed audiences from Munich to Mumbai as a keynote speaker. David was formerly a brand manager at Johnson & Johnson, worked in customer marketing at Coca-Cola, ran an acquisitions group for DoubleClick and ran marketing at two smaller companies. He started his business career in management consulting. David graduated with High Honors from Swarthmore College and was a Citicorp/Walter Wriston Scholar at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
