There is a balance between connecting, sharing, and protecting your privacy on Social Media sites. These sites often make it difficult to know exactly what you share with others and how to create private conversations within a specific group of people. This workshop will help individuals learn what privacy means to a variety of social media sites like Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, Twitter and more. Diana will demonstrate how to change these settings, explain the settings to library users and how to monitor your library’s as well as your own personal online reputation.
Diana Silveira is the President of Novare Library Services. Novare Library Services provides training to libraries and their end-users, web-development and technology infrastructure to libraries. Before Novare Library Services, Diana was the Virtual Manager of Florida’s Ask a Librarian, a statewide LSTA project helping over 70,000 residents via live chat, email and text messaging. She has an MLIS from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. When not playing with gadgets and gizmos, she enjoys diving, kayaking and other water-related fun.
Staff from Florida libraries may register for this workshop at no charge. Priority will be given to SEFLIN members. Non-members will be placed on a waiting list and added as space permits after the registration deadline.
