PLAN Digitization Conference 2016

Mark your calendars for August 18-19 to attend PLAN’s Digitization Conference 2016. A full day pre-conference entitled Digitization 101 will also be offered on August 17.  The conference theme is Digitization: Preserving the Past for the Future.

Join us at Florida State University’s Panama City, Florida campus. If your library or organization is involved with digitization, or planning the digitization of historical records, photos, audios, or moving images, this conference will provide both basic and advanced learning opportunities. All types of libraries and historical organizations will benefit.

Who should attend:  Staff from libraries of all types, plus staff from historical & cultural heritage organizations

Program: The conference will provide an introduction to digitization for those new to digitization and more in depth topics for those who want advanced level information about digitization. A full program and speaker list will be available soon.  Early registration begins in March.

Keynote speakers will address the statewide and national digitization initiatives of the State of Florida and the Digital Public Library of America. Breakout sessions will cover best practices, project planning, trends in digitization, and more.

  • Emily Gore (Director for Content, Digital Public Library of America)
  • Amy Johnson (Director, Division of Library & Information Services, Florida Department of State)

2015 Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) – Florida Library Youth Program (FLYP)

The Division of Library and Information Services is presenting its annual CSLP/FLYP workshops for  the 2015 Summer Library Program. Youth services staff and media specialists are invited to join Youth Services Consultant Jana Fine and company for this free, day-long workshop.

The morning session’s theme, Unmask!, will focus on teen programming. The afternoon session will highlight children’s (ages 0-11) programming, with the theme of Every Hero has a Story.

Dress casually and plan to participate in activities. Bring a camera, your manual and any ideas to share.

These programs are provided free of charge through a Library Services and Technology Act grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Florida Department of State’s Division of Library and Information Services.
