Small & Rural Library Conference
February 20, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 3:30 pm
Join us for a day dedicated to staff in small and rural libraries.
Featured Program: “Digital Literacy for Everyone” presented by Crystal Schimpf and Kieran Hixon of Kixal.
Looking for ways to get you and your staff up to speed? If you can figure out Dewey, you can figure out Windows! Gain practical tips, tools, and techniques to help bridge the digital divide at your library and create a culture of learning around technology. Bring your ideas and issues as we discuss common barriers to learning technology and explore three solutions to help staff become more tech savvy. Walk away with a process and a plan to increase learning in your library.
Law Libraries in the Panhandle: Services Offered to Residents presented by Carol Hoots and Lakeitha Dwyer
Overview of the six law libraries in the Panhandle and the services that their librarians provide. Presentation will include general information, overview of hard copy resources, Westlaw demonstration, and an introduction to ProDocs.
Are You a Giver or Taker? presented by Renae Rountree
Examine behavior in the workplace and how it leads to success and failure. Are givers less successful because they are taken advantage of? Do takers always win? Are there certain occupations that givers or takers are more successful in? Presentation based on Adam Grant’s book, Give or Take (Florida Library Association Leadership Development Committee’s One Book, One State selection).
