This session is part of the LYRASIS second Friday series, a series of workshops providing information about and sharing new ideas and resources for resource sharing, electronic resources, and cataloging.
In this session, attendees will first be guided in a discussion of how they use their existing e-book collections. In part two, Russell Palmer, LYRASIS Professional Development Librarian, will share free e-book resources that will benefit all types of library users. The free e-book collections cover a range of topics– popular resources in the public domain, books for children, free audio books, and advanced academic resources. Some free e-book collections now offer metadata and/or cataloging records as well, and those resources will be presented.
After this session, participants will be able to:
Understand how library staff and their users make use of electronic books
Identify free e-book resources appropriate for different kinds of library users
Find metadata and/or cataloging records for titles that can be added to finding aids or the library catalog.
Upon registering for the event on the SWFLN CE Calendar at www.swfln.org, attendees will receive email containing login information to webinar within two weeks before event.
