Get Your Game On! Video Gaming at the Library (Lake City) (NEFLIN)

Friday, March 18, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, Florida Gateway College, Lake City
In this learn and play session, Beth Gallaway, author of Game On: Gaming at the Library (Neal Schuman, 2009) facilitates a discussion about board and video games in libraries for youth, teens, families and seniors, covering services, collections, and programs. The focus on best practices includes planning and promoting, gaming on a budget, and tips for newbies. Dedicated time to play a variety of games will be provided as part of the session.
By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Articulate the literacy value of board and video
  • games, and learn to advocate for their inclusion in
  • libraries
  • Examine board and video game collection development policies, procedures and issues
  • Discover best gaming program practices in North America
  • Experience a variety of games, and
  • Design a new program of service to appeal to the gamers in your community
