This two-hour online class will help you learn the fundamentals of Netvibes, a tool for creating private and public information portals. Learn how libraries can use Netvibes, a free tool, for creating information portals for patrons as well as teaching K12 and postsecondary patrons/students how to create personal learning enviornments and information portals for learning and research. We will explore how Netvibes can be used as a form of transliteracy as we explore Netvibes as a tool for creating information literacy artifacts, a means for evaluating information sources, and a way for students to articulate and visualize their research process.
By the end of this class, students will be able to:
Create a public and private page in Netvibes
Customize themes and layouts in Netvibes
Utilize the RSS tool in Netvibes for adding RSS feeds from online information sources
Add custom HTML widgets and pre-made essential widgets to a Netvibes page
Staff from Florida libraries may register for this workshop at no charge. Priority will be given to TBLC members. Non-members will be placed on a waiting list and added as space permits after the registration deadline.
