This four-hour live online course will be held in two-hour increments on Sept 28-29, 2011. Students must attend both days.
This workshop is designed for libraries that have acquired or are planning to acquire the CONTENTdm software for management of their digital collections. The course will be focused on metadata and standards that will be used with the creation of a digital collection using CONTENTdm.
Learning Outcomes – at the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
- Name a number of metadata schemes and briefly describe their basic features
- List the 15 Dublin Core (DC) simple elements and the two types of qualifiers
- Describe how DC can be used with CONTENTdm to describe and provide access to digital objects
- Describe how CONTENTdm allows for cross collection searching among collections using different metadata schemes
Staff from Florida libraries may register for this workshop at no charge. Priority will be given to SEFLIN members. Non-members will be placed on a waiting list and added as space permits after the registration deadline.
