For years, AACR2 has been the cataloging standard for libraries. On or soon after March 31, 2013 the Library of Congress will begin to create records for newly-cataloged material according to RDA.This will influence many other libraries to follow their lead. This two-hour, live online class will offer an introduction to RDA, including the principles of FRBR, for those who do not routinely create bibliographic records in the cataloging environment, but need to understand, interpret, search, and teach about bibliographic records in the catalog.
•Define the FRBR concepts that underlie RDA
•Understand the background and history of the change from AACR2 to RDA
•Understand the basic organization, terminology, and structure of RDA
•Interpret changes to MARC bibliographic records from AACR2 to RDA
