RFID in the Library (SEFLIN)

During this two-hour class, students will have a chance to find out more about RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, discuss it with others and get in on the ground floor of creating a potentially powerful tool for your library. The class is also an opportunity to learn about some public concerns over privacy and health issues, discover which vendors offer solutions and learn from libraries that have successfully implemented it and how.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand RFID technology and standards
  • Recognize the advantages and disadvantages of RFID
  • Comprehend the various privacy concerns around the technology
  • Become familiar with some of the vendors offering RFID services

Staff from Florida libraries may register for this workshop at no charge. Priority will be given to SEFLIN members. Non-members will be placed on a waiting list and added as space permits after the registration deadline.
