Social Media Policies and Your Library (Live Online – PLAN)

Why Your Library Needs a Social Media Policy: Social Media opens the doors to market your library like never before (and its FREE!). Before jumping in, there are factors that need to be considered. This presentation covers why your organization should have a Social Media Policy in place including: The Florida Sunshine Law, your libraries relationship with the powers that be (governing authority), guidelines for staff interaction with patrons in an online environment, and more.

Instructor: Jackie Papke is a former librarian and degreed teacher with a passion for people + information + technology. Teaching technology allows her to connect all three at once. While in her former position as a Reference Librarian and Webmaster for the Northwest Regional Library System, Jackie co-wrote the first Social Media Policy for the system, managed the Bay County Public Library Facebook Page (proudly doubling the fans!), and taught both peers and patrons.

Jackie recently left the public library to launch Eye4Insight, her own Independent Research and Technology Instruction Company. Jackie holds a Masters degree in Library & Information Studies with a concentration in Technology Management and a Bachelors Degree in Education.
