Whether you have the title or not, many library professionals are taking on additional duties that require them to manage and lead others. As duties and responsibilities change, the need to learn and master new skills becomes even more important for their success.
Delegation is a skill that doesn’t come naturally to everyone. Many managers and supervisors avoid delegation because of various practical and emotional barriers. For example, they may be afraid to relinquish control of some tasks or they may worry that employees will resist or resent delegation. It’s important to overcome these challenges, as effective delegation can have wide-ranging benefits for you, your employees and the organization as a whole.
This webinar will give attendees the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that will help improve leadership skills and teamwork through delegating more effectively.
Participants will learn and begin to master:
- Assess your unit’s delegation skill performance
- List the five Rights of Delegation and Supervision
- Describe methods to incorporate initial direction, periodic follow up, and supervision skills into your workday
This webinar will be delivered via SEFLIN Connect. Log-in information will be emailed approximately one week before the course.
Staff from Florida libraries may register for this workshop at no charge. Priority will be given to SEFLIN members. Non-members will be placed on a waiting list and added as space permits after the registration deadline.
