Using Florida Memory to Enhance Your Viva Florida Events and Programming

2013 marks the 500 year anniversary of the arrival of European and African peoples in the land now known as Florida. The encounter between Juan Ponce de León’s expedition and the Native Peoples of Florida in April 1513 initiated a process that forever changed life on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Institutions around the state are holding Viva Florida events to recognize this important turning point in World History.

This webinar provides an overview of materials available on the Florida Memory Program website suitable for Viva Florida events and programming.

The Florida Memory Program is a web initiative from the Florida Department of State’s Division of Library and Information Services. Florida Memory provides online access, free of charge, to significant photographs, films, sound recordings and archival documents from the collections of the State Library and Archives of Florida.
